What will you be doing?
The Head of ERM is responsible for leading Finabank’ s Enterprise Risk Management program. This includes advising on and embedding the risk appetite framework and limits, independently monitoring and reporting on the bank’s risk profile, and ensuring the timely escalation and mitigation of material risks.


Your responsibilities

  • Develop and set a risk function strategy and cascade targets to annual plans for specialist managers and track delivery against milestones.
  • Review and sign off key risk outputs for risk dashboards, key risk indicator reporting, committee packs, risk assessments, policy updates, incident/root cause analyses, and remediation plans regarding specialized risk areas.
  • Lead performance cycles objectives, mid-year reviews with risk managers,capability development of the risk teams, succession planning, and hiring priorities.

  • Ensure consistency across domains regarding risk approach within the bank.
  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment with the first line departments and second line
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the bank’s strategic plan and support initiatives in the achievement of the risk department’s goals.
  • Act as the primary link between risk management operations and the CFRO, ensuring risk management supports decision making at the executive and board levels.
  • Leads the ERM program, coordination between the 2nd line and the 1st line to ensure the bank’s risk profile remain consistent with the bank’s approved risk appetite.
  • Owns and continuously enhances the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) to ensure full coverage of all material risks and alignment with best practices.
  • Establish and approve, in collaboration with the CEO, CFRO and business line heads appropriate risk limits for business lines that are prudent and consistent with the bank’s risk appetite statement
  • Monitor the bank’s risk profile relative to its risk appetite, strategy, business plans, capital position and risk capacity.
  • Ensure that the Risk Appetite and ERMF are integrated into the bank’s operational and strategic planning processes.
  • Oversee the aggregation, review, and timely submission of consolidated risk reports and MI to the RCC, Executive Board, and Supervisory Board.
  • Promote and embed a strong risk culture across the organization through communication, training and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and central Bank of Suriname guidelines, including safeguarding the independence of the Integrity function.
  • Act as key point of contact for regulators and auditors on enterprise risk management matters.


About you
You hold at least a master’s degree in risk management, Finance, or Business Economics, supported by professional training in areas such as Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Risk, IFRS, Strategic Leadership, and Legal Skills. You have over 10 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector, with at least 5 years in a senior risk or leadership position.

Your knowledge spans a wide range of areas including risk governance, regulatory compliance (national and international), financial analysis, IFRS 9 and ECL, stress testing, ALM, and operational risk indicators. You're proficient in banking systems and have a deep understanding of risk escalation procedures, internal controls, and Central Bank guidelines.

You bring strong strategic leadership, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills. You’re fluent in both Dutch and English and are comfortable using Microsoft productivity tools and AI-based solutions. With a results-driven, proactive mindset, you collaborate effectively across departments, demonstrate teaching ability, and act with integrity and independence
