What will you be doing?
As Manager of Operational Risk Management, you will lead the second-line Operational Risk function within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. You play a key role in safeguarding the Bank’s operational resilience by overseeing risk identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and escalation across the organization. In addition, you will provide independent oversight and challenge on Business Continuity Management (BCM), incident management, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s risk appetite.
Your responsibilities
1. Lead and continuously enhance the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and annual ORM plan in alignment with the ERMF.
2. Coordinate Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) across business units, including risk identification, control evaluation, and follow-up on remediation actions.
3. Develop and maintain operational risk policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
4. Manage and optimize the GRC system, acting as a key liaison for users and ensuring effective risk reporting.
5. Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), including thresholds and escalation triggers, and perform trend analysis and early warning monitoring.
6. Oversee incident, loss event, and near-miss management processes, including root cause analysis and tracking of corrective actions.
7. Provide independent second-line review and challenge on projects, new products, and initiatives with operational risk implications.
8. Provide oversight and challenge on Business Continuity Management (BCM)
and operational resilience activities, including BIA, testing, and recovery planning.
9. Identify gaps in operational resilience and business continuity preparedness and monitor the implementation of improvements.
10. Prepare and present clear and timely risk reports, dashboards, and escalation papers to senior management and governance committees (e.g., RCC).
11. Promote a strong risk culture by providing guidance, training, and support to first-line risk owners and stakeholders.
12. Lead and develop the Operational Risk team, ensuring effective performance management and continuous capability building.
About You
You are a strong risk professional with leadership capabilities and a structured, analytical mindset. You can challenge yourself constructively, influence stakeholders,and drive improvements in risk management practices.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, risk, audit, or internal control
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role
- Solid knowledge of operational risk frameworks (RCSA, KRI, incident management, BCM)
- Familiarity with governance frameworks and regulatory requirement
- Experience with GRC systems and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills
- High level of integrity, independence, and sound judgment
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
